About Codenames Online

Players split into two teams, and each team has a spymaster. The spymasters can see which words on the grid belong to their team and give one-word clues with a number, such as "Ocean, 2". Their teammates guess, trying to avoid the other team's words and the assassin.

Create a room, share the link, choose a nickname and play in your browser. It works well over a video call, with friends in different places.

Codenames was designed by Vlaada Chvátil and is published by Czech Games Edition, who run this official online version.

Teams take turns until one of them finds all of its agents, or until someone picks the assassin and loses on the spot. A game takes about 15 minutes.
